& Hatchford Sports
and Family Day
A fun day of free sport and entertainment for all the family- with FREE
RIDES For KIDS.

Downside & Hatchford Sports Day has been running for over a hundred
years. Sports Day started at the beginning of the 19th century, it
originally took place on Whit Sunday, but in 1910, as a mark of respect to
King Edward Vll, who died shortly before Whit Sunday, the event was
moved to
August Bank Holiday Monday, and has remained there
ever since. The event has continued annually apart from a few years
where there has been no committee to run it. If you are interested in
helping to organize next years event please speak to a committee
member on the day or speak to the Steward in Downside Sports & Social
Club. It provides a day of free races from tots to OAPs!! It is sponsored
by many local businesses which this year and pass has enabled us to
provide free fair attractions such as bouncy castle's, the bungee run and
Round-About to mention but a few. Any profit which might be made is
donated to local charities or worthy causes.
